WTF?

So we've been in St. Lucia for two days.  For those two days, I have been in bed, in pain, confused, and sometimes hallucinating.  Bennett and Pat were total troopers on the way here [Pat interjects that Ruth was a total trooper on the way here, too.]  And the flights were easy.  The people were super helpful.  We got golf carts and wheel chairs.  It was like the seas of crowds parting when we need to get checked in or needed help of any kind.  It was a long, long day of travel.  We got up at 2 a.m. and arrived here at 6 p.m. (with an hour time difference).  The car ride from the airport was over 2 hours.  I haven't been outside yet, so I don't have much to tell you, but according to my sources, the beach, not too far away, is beautiful. We have our own little pool out our back door.  Bennett has been wearing her hello kitty swimming suit almost the entire time.  I did make it downstairs yesterday and am downstairs right now.  I had a shower today, which I desperately needed.  Here we are in the living room.

  1. What a beautiful bunch of ladies! B looks adorable in her Hello Kitty suit. I'm glad you made it and your long, long day of travel is over. I hope you are able to get the pain under control enough to enjoy some time outside. Wish we could be there with you! XOXOXO

  2. You may not be hallucinating all the time: it could just be the tree-frogs (they sound like sleigh bells on speed to me), the geckos and the tropical wildlife. I hope the pain subsides and you have the chance to enjoy the Island and her people at some point while you're there. Love!

  3. Yay, you posted! Love you, thinking about you all...ALL the time. Praying up a storm for the mercies you need. I've been spending the weekend at the condo with my Montalban girls. We have had some prayer time together, and they are all lifting you up to God, too.
    Love, your big sis

  4. Liz and I are so glad to hear from you! We are glad you made it there and hope you can get some time outside. Did you get your helicopter ride? Give everyone a kiss and hug for us and have Pat give you a kiss and hug for us. We love you. Julie and Liz

  5. Dear Ruth,

You all do look crazy beautiful. Bennett looks in heaven to be at the beach and surrounded by five moms, aunties, and cousin to take care. You also look buoyed up the proximity of the super-love vibes, which I know are always there, but not all the time so geographically near.

When you feel pain, I hope what you will see is all of us standing by you, supporting and soothing and loving, absorbing any accompanying fear, so that it can be "just pain." I am thinking about you all the time.

I am so pleased that the travel was as easy as it could be. But, hey, what happened to the helicopter? I read that there is a mineral bath on the island. I hope that if you can't visit these things, you receive colorful reports of them from B.

Sending you buckets of love. Toes is well, and so is your house. Love,
    Ruth

  14. Great bathing suit for B; she looks so happy. I think she is part mermaid. All of you are looking good - tropical breezes and the sea are so great. Meanwhile I'm making my way to OK with lots of incidences like losing and finding the dogs and having my wallet stolen but the trek continues. I just keep laughing. You are always in my thoughts.
