Have't Been Posting Much

That's true. I have been trying like cray to get the meds in order so I am spaced out or in pain. Today was pretty good, but I spent the day in bed getting over last night and yesterday. Cooky, the Hospice nurse came over today to told me that it might be a progression of the disease. Maybe the slow typing is too.

I feel pretty awful, but am still looking forward to our trip. I like to get text messages, comments and emails. Call, at this point are a little taxing.

I have missed my texts, but I am working really hard to make this balance work out.

  1. Do what you can. Ask for what you need. You've got a great circle of friends who will respond with love and help! Hope you all were able to celebrate Pat's birthday in some way. Love, Jim

    1. Ruth,

I am glad we got to see you today and I hope we were more help than hindrance. Please do call on us if we can help and do not hesitate to let me know when it's time for us to go, or if you are not up to chatting. It's sometimes hard for me to gauge exactly what you are up for, so please be honest (blunt, even!) with your needs and limitations. Two preschoolers together can be so taxing and so can a chatterbox like me! I can always take Bennett over here after school for a while if that helps you to rest better.

      Good night!

      Love, Sandy

  3. Okay, dear Ruth,
Hope you got my phone message today, I am back from DC, and wondering if you will want or be up for a midday visit tomorrow? And if not, I will connect with Pat about our mid-night magic carpet ride tomorrow night/Friday morning.
    Love and love and love,
    Ruth

  8. So glad to see your post, and so glad that you are going on vacation soon. I will be imagining you on a gorgeous beach, basking in the warm sun, with your feet in the blue shimmery water. Wishing you much pain-free, med-balanced time with your family in a beautiful place. love, Beryl

  9. Dear Ruth,

I hope your flights went alright yesterday morning. I'm glad you got that warm attendant at BDL to help get you through security to the gate (at least I think that's what Pat said happened, when I called her on my way back home, and you all were seated in the plane). You were strong and smart and graceful as usual, like a steel magnolia, getting through this beginning of your trip.

I hope M and J are buoy-ing and showering you with love and all the comfort that is possible; that your Pat is getting to walk on the beach sometimes; that your Ms. B is playing in some gentle Caribbean waves.

(Here is something that B brought up at the Thursday night meeting of the Serious Club, a club chaired by Piggie which we sometimes attend when she is bathing, where you mention serious things you know of: "I have something serious." "What is that?" "You must get up in the middle of the night and hurry to the car to go to the beach.")

Will you be well enough to be driven through the drive-in volcano? Even if not, I hope there is some measure of ease in the surroundings and with your good rels. I wish I could go in there with you, sword glinting, to battle the pain.

I'm always thinking about you, my friend. All is well with Toes and your home. Oodles of love,
    Ruth
